Contraindicated in pregnancy

It is authorised in the EU for acne vulgaris with comedones, papules and pustules, and NICE lists it as a first-line 12-week option for acne of any severity, and as the preferred maintenance treatment afterwards.

Adapalene normalises the way cells shed inside the follicle, so blackheads and whiteheads form less often, and it has anti-inflammatory effects.
