What to know before your consultation

Who the weight consultation suits

The weight consultation is for adults living with obesity, or with overweight and a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you are trying to conceive. Some health histories need in-person care, and in that case the doctor tells you and your consultation fee is refunded. The service does not replace emergency care: for urgent symptoms, call 112.

How the weight consultation works

You answer an online questionnaire about your weight, your health history and anything you currently take. An EU-licensed doctor reviews your answers, may ask follow-up questions in the private chat in your account, and decides whether treatment is appropriate. If it is, you receive an e-prescription to use at a pharmacy of your choice, where you pay for the treatment separately. If it is not, the doctor explains why and your fee is refunded.

Ongoing support from your doctor

Weight management works best as a long-term plan, so your doctor stays with you after the first decision. Before each renewal they review your progress and how you feel, and nothing changes automatically. You can message your doctor in the private chat whenever a question or a new symptom comes up. You can cancel your plan at any time from your account.

Is treatment safe?
Every medicine has risks. Your doctor reviews your history and contraindications before prescribing and explains the side effects to you.
Message your doctor in your account chat at any time. For severe or sudden symptoms, call 112.
Insulin and sulfonylureas need extra care. The questionnaire asks about everything you take.
These medicines are not prescribed during pregnancy, while trying to conceive or while breastfeeding. A personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, or a past episode of pancreatitis, can also rule some of them out. The questionnaire asks about all of this, and if treatment isn't right for you, the doctor explains why and your fee is refunded.

Which weight-loss treatments can a doctor prescribe?
Weekly or daily injectable treatments, or oral options. The doctor decides case by case, based on your health history, and sometimes the answer is no.
Generally adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. The questionnaire checks this first.

Yes. Changes to eating, activity and sleep are the foundation of any plan, and for some people they are enough on their own. Medicine is added to these changes, not used instead of them. If an in-person assessment suits you better, for example with your GP or a specialist obesity service where options such as surgery are discussed, your doctor tells you.
Many weight-management medicines are started at a low dose and increased step by step over several weeks, which helps limit side effects. You only move up when your doctor agrees, based on how you are feeling. If side effects are hard to manage, the doctor can keep you on the same dose for longer or step back down.

Changes are never automatic, and if the doctor can't approve the renewal, that period's €25 fee is refunded and the plan is cancelled.

If a review isn't approved, we refund that period's €25 fee within 48 hours and cancel the plan.
€35, one consultation for a 28-day treatment cycle, no subscription. Medicine is paid at your pharmacy.
Cancel from your account; your plan stops at the end of the current cycle.
If the doctor does not approve your consultation or review, the refund is issued within 48 hours and you do not need to ask for it. It goes back to your original payment method; how soon it shows on your statement depends on your bank.
It covers the Hi Doctor fee for the consultation or review that was not approved. The medicine is never paid to Hi Doctor: you pay your pharmacy for it, so it is not part of a refund from us. Once the medical review has started, the legal right of withdrawal no longer applies, so any other request is reviewed individually.
Refunds for consultations the doctor does not approve are automatic. For anything else, write to hello@hi-doctor.ai and tell us what happened. We review every request individually and pay approved refunds to the original payment method.
