Contrave is the United States brand name for a weight-management tablet that combines naltrexone and bupropion. There is no medicine called Contrave on sale in the European Union. The identical combination is authorised in the EU under a different brand name, Mysimba, so the medicine itself is available to EU patients on prescription, just not under the name Contrave. If you have read about Contrave online, you are reading about the American product, and any website offering to ship Contrave to an EU address is not operating within EU medicines law.
Contrave has no EU marketing authorisation for this use. It may be an approved medicine for something else, or approved in another country — but not something a doctor here can prescribe for this.

All participants also followed a reduced-calorie diet and exercise programme, and a large proportion of people randomised did not complete the 56 weeks, which makes the average figures harder to interpret.

Nausea
Reported by 31.8% of people taking naltrexone/bupropion in the pooled clinical trials, versus 6.7% on placebo.
Constipation
Reported by 18.1% of people taking naltrexone/bupropion, versus 7.2% on placebo.
Vomiting
Reported by 9.9% of people taking naltrexone/bupropion, versus 2.9% on placebo.
Seizures
Occurred in approximately 0.06% of trial participants taking naltrexone/bupropion (2 of 3,239), versus none of 1,515 on placebo. The combination must not be used by anyone with a current or past seizure disorder.
Stopping treatment because of side effects
23.8% of people taking naltrexone/bupropion stopped because of an adverse reaction, versus 11.9% on placebo.
Cannot be combined with opioids
Naltrexone blocks opioid receptors, so the combination is contraindicated in people who are dependent on opioids or going through opioid withdrawal.
