What Rapamycin is, and how to get treatment
Rapamycin — its medicine name is sirolimus, sold as Rapamune — is an immunosuppressant. It quiets the immune system so it does not attack a transplanted kidney, and that, along with a rare lung condition called sporadic lymphangioleiomyomatosis, is what it is authorised for in the EU. You may have seen it discussed online as an anti-ageing or "longevity" drug: no regulator anywhere has approved it for that, and that use is entirely off-label and unproven. Because it suppresses the immune system it carries real infection and cancer risks and is only prescribed under specialist supervision — Hi-Doctor treats hair loss, weight management and sexual health, and does not prescribe it.
Rapamycin has been authorised for use in the EU since 13 March 2001, so a licensed doctor can prescribe it when it is clinically appropriate for you.

This was a transplant trial in people already taking ciclosporin and prednisone after a kidney transplant. It is not evidence about ageing, healthspan or anything else.

What has been reported with Rapamycin.
Immunosuppression
Sirolimus deliberately suppresses the immune system. Infections are among the most common side effects, and long-term immunosuppression carries an increased risk of lymphoma and skin cancer.
Impaired wound healing
Delayed or impaired healing, including fluid collections around the graft (lymphocele), is a recognised effect.
Blood and metabolic effects
Reduced blood cell counts, low potassium and phosphate, raised cholesterol and triglycerides, raised blood glucose and a risk of diabetes.
Longevity use is off-label and unproven
No medicines regulator has authorised sirolimus for ageing, longevity or healthspan anywhere. The EU authorisation covers only prophylaxis of kidney-transplant rejection and sporadic lymphangioleiomyomatosis. There is no completed regulatory-grade trial showing it extends healthy life in people who are well, and it requires blood-level monitoring.
Allergen in the oral solution
The oral solution contains soya oil and must be avoided by people allergic to peanut or soya.
Rapamycin is a molecule frequently searched online; it does not currently fall within Hi-Doctor's clinical scope.
