What Bremelanotide is, and how to get treatment
Bremelanotide, sold in the United States as Vyleesi, is an injection given under the skin of the stomach or thigh about 45 minutes before sex. It is for premenopausal women with persistently low sexual desire that causes them real distress, a diagnosis doctors call hypoactive sexual desire disorder. It works on desire signals in the brain, so it is nothing like the tablets men take for erection problems, and it is not meant to improve sexual performance. It is approved in the United States but has no marketing authorisation in the European Union, so no EU doctor can prescribe it and Hi-Doctor does not offer it. If low desire is troubling you, a GP or gynaecologist can look at hormones, mood, medication side effects and relationship factors together, which is the assessment this problem actually needs.

Of the 1,267 women randomised, 96.6% were recruited at US sites and 85.6% were white, and the differences from placebo are small movements on questionnaire scales whose day-to-day meaning is debated.

Temporary blood pressure rise
Each dose caused maximum increases of about 6 mmHg systolic and 3 mmHg diastolic, peaking 2 to 4 hours after injection, with heart rate falling by up to 5 beats per minute; the US label contraindicates it in uncontrolled high blood pressure or known cardiovascular disease.
Darkened patches of skin
Focal hyperpigmentation was reported in 1% of patients receiving up to 8 monthly doses, and in 38% of those given a dose daily for 8 days.
