If you are looking to get Duac online in León, you can request a medical evaluation through Hi-Doctor without waiting weeks for an in-person dermatology appointment. An EU-licensed doctor assesses your symptoms and skin photos to determine whether clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide gel is medically appropriate for your acne. When clinically appropriate, the doctor issues an official REMPE electronic prescription in under 24 hours. The consultation costs a 40 € one-off fee, which is refunded in full if the doctor does not issue a prescription, and your prescription PDF can be presented at any EU pharmacy.

How it works — get your consultation in 4 steps

The consultation process is entirely online, asynchronous, and handled by registered physicians:

  1. Complete the medical questionnaire: Answer questions about your skin history, previous acne treatments, and current medications. You will also upload clear photographs of the affected areas.
  2. Submit the 40 € one-off consultation fee: Your payment is processed securely via Stripe. The 40 EUR consultation fee is refunded in full if the doctor does not issue a prescription.
  3. Doctor clinical assessment: An EU-licensed doctor reviews your clinical details and photographs within 24 hours. There is no video call or telephone interview required.
  4. Download your REMPE prescription: If approved, your REMPE (Receta Médica Privada Electrónica) prescription is issued directly to your patient account as a downloadable PDF file. You can present the digital or printed PDF at pharmacies in León or elsewhere in the EU.

Certain acne presentations fall outside the scope of our digital service. Hi-Doctor treats acne using topical medications only. Patients with severe nodular, cystic, or scarring acne require in-person physical evaluation and monitoring. Furthermore, oral isotretinoin, oral antibiotics, and systemic hormonal therapies are not prescribed online and are referred to in-person clinics.

Hi-Doctor's EU-licensed doctors have supported over 50,000 patients with a 4.8 Trustpilot rating, providing auditable, GDPR-compliant telemedicine consultations.

What Duac actually does

Duac combines two complementary active ingredients: clindamycin 1% (a lincosamide antibiotic) and benzoyl peroxide (at either 3% or 5% concentration). Clindamycin suppresses the proliferation of Cutibacterium acnes bacteria within the hair follicles and reduces inflammatory lesions. Benzoyl peroxide provides potent keratolytic and antibacterial actions through the release of free oxygen radicals.

The inclusion of benzoyl peroxide prevents Cutibacterium acnes from developing resistance to clindamycin. Because of the antibiotic component, Duac therapy is strictly capped at a maximum continuous duration of 12 weeks. An initial adjustment period or mild purging can occur between weeks 2 and 6, while meaningful therapeutic improvement is assessed at the 12-week mark.

Active FormulationPrimary MechanismApplication ScheduleMaximum Duration
Clindamycin 1% + Benzoyl Peroxide 3% or 5% (Duac)Antibacterial and comedolytic; reduces bacterial load and prevents resistanceOnce daily at night12 weeks continuous
Adapalene 0.1% + Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% (Epiduo)Retinoid cellular turnover combined with antibacterial actionOnce daily at nightOngoing maintenance
Azelaic Acid 15% (Skinoren / Finacea)Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, non-photosensitising comedolyticTwice dailyOngoing maintenance

Side effects and when to stop

Mild localised reactions are common during the first few weeks of Duac use. These include skin dryness, peeling, redness (erythema), and a mild burning or stinging sensation. Benzoyl peroxide also bleaches fabrics, hair, and towels upon contact.

You should discontinue application and seek medical advice if you experience severe contact dermatitis, intense swelling, blistering, or persistent irritation. Because topical clindamycin can rarely be absorbed systemically, stop treatment immediately if you develop severe, prolonged, or bloody diarrhoea.

Why Hi-Doctor vs. walking into a clinic

Every intake is assessed individually by a licensed medical practitioner. If the doctor determines that Duac is not clinically indicated for your skin condition, the 40 EUR consultation fee is refunded in full. When approved, your REMPE prescription is generated under Spanish electronic prescribing standards (meeting Directive 2012/52/EU requirements), allowing you to take the PDF to local dispensaries across Spain and the EU.
